Upheaval Dome

When you stare down into the Upheaval Dome / Crater (1.6 miles roundtrip hike on the Crater View Trail), you are looking at a natural anomaly. There are a couple theories about how on earth this thing was created but my favorite is the one I adhere to: it’s an impact crater of a meteorite! It’s been called “the most peculiar structural feature in southeastern Utah.” Rocks that were a mile underground are now on the surface of the earth and that’s wild. You must visit this place, not just because of its beauty but because of its mystery.
